Bear Clan is an ode to the matrilineal Bear Clan of the Haudenosaunee. This painting uses three identical images to highlight different aspects of the painting. A black bear stepping forward from behind a rock rests momentarily within a diamond-shaped frame decorated with traditional Haudenosaunee patterns. The green background with purple designs creates a secondary framing effect for the bear. Pops of bright blue on the outer frame add a beautiful element to the painting.
